WOW
I have every issue of this magazine in DRM-free EPUB from July 2003 to February 2011 at which time Fictionwise’s transition to the dark side, er Barnes & Noble, was complete and the books became encrypted for Nook. I gave up on the magazine entirely, forever if necessary, and started buying nearly everything from Weightless.
Ditto for Asimov’s Science Fiction, last issue I have is June 2012.
Thank you so much for getting this.
I am currently subscribed to F&SF through Amazon (I can at least read the magazine on the Kindle app on my Nook) but am trying to cancel my subscription because a DRM-free EPUB is obviously of more use to me. Since I already have the Nov.-Dec. 2016 issue, please start my sub with the Jan.-Feb. 2017 issue. Your catalog also mentions individual issues available, but does not list any such back issues. I’d be interested in such a list.
Hi Karl, at the moment we are just adding current issues. I am not sure if we will be able to add back issues. I will look into it. In the meantime Michael will switch your sub to start with the next issue.
Cheers,
Gavin
Please, please, help me and add past issues of F&SF!
And, if and when possible, free me from Magzter also for Asimov’s (they want me to read it on-line, my boss oppose it)!
We have had a confirmation from F&SF publisher Gordon Van Gelder that yes, Weightless will eventually carry F&SF back issues, but (a) we don’t have a timetable yet and (b) I’m not sure if Weightless will carry back issues from prior to 2002.
What formats are available for download? I currently get F&SF on Kindle, but I’d prefer to
(1) have DRM-free versions and (2) not buy from Amazon where possible, I can manage ePub if that’s all that’s available, but it’s an extra faff converting.
Marc, I’m happy to say that F&SF is available DRM-free in mobi, epub, and pdf formats:

Since there are some who are into this magazine, I wonder if anyone know where I might find issues or even software version of the magazines from the 60’s and 70’s. Asimov use to write a column based on science that was beyond superb. They also ran a contest once which had to be based on puns. The winner wrote a science fiction story with a pun on the Lone Ranger. It was really good. So if anyone knows where I might find these, please post here.
Greybeard, we plan to put out electronic copies of all our back issues, but I’m afraid it will be a while before they’re all ready to go. In the meantime, your best bet for finding older issues of F&SF is to try the secondary market—online auction sites and used booksellers.
—Gordon Van Gelder, F&SF
Any chance of selling drm-free issues of Analog? I recently ended my subscription of 57 years. Including back issues picked up over the years, I have over 80 years worth. That’s a lot of shelf space!
Hi Douglas, that is a lot of shelf space! I’ve queried Analog but I don’t think theyy’re yup for the DRM-free files as yet.
