Genre’s oldest continuously published semi-pro magazine still in print to continue under the auspices of new publisher, Angela Yuriko Smith.

Piscataway, NJ January 1, 2019 – In an unexpected but welcome turn of events, Angela Yuriko Smith is acquiring Space and Time Magazine from current publisher Hildy Silverman. Ms. Smith will take over as of the next issue, #133, which is tentatively scheduled for release in the late spring/early summer of 2019.

Space and Time Magazine was launched in 1966 by original publisher and current editor emeritus, Gordon Linzner. Ms. Silverman took it over approximately 13 years ago when it was on the brink of being shut down permanently. Now, history has repeated itself, as Ms. Silverman had previously announced that she was going to cease publication in 2019.

“I am thrilled that Angela stepped forward to keep Space and Time running,” said Ms. Silverman. “It was a very difficult decision to shut it down. Now, knowing that it will continue, giving up the reigns is far less painful.”

Ms. Smith intends to run the magazine in partnership with her husband and fellow author R.A. Smith and her daughter Kyra Starr, a graphic artist. An author and poet by profession, she also has substantial experience in publishing, including magazines.  Her work has been published in several print and online publications, including the “Horror Writers Association’s Poetry Showcase” vols. 2-4 and the “Where the Stars Rise: Asian Science Fiction and Fantasy” anthology. Most of the staff of Space and Time has already agreed to stay on under Ms. Smith’s stewardship, including fiction editor Gerard Houarner and poetry editor Linda D. Addison.’m grateful to know that the people already in place with Space and Time Magazine will remain,” said Ms. Smith. “They are the reason this publication has continued to thrive in spite of the challenges presented by a changing industry. I am honored to be able to do my part to see it continue.”

Rather than Issue #133 marking the end of this venerable magazine, it will now serve to launch the next era of Space and Time. Authors and other contributors should keep an eye on the magazine’s website and social media platforms for announcements regarding reopening for submissions in the near future.
