Don Hutchison is creator and editor of all six volumes of the landmark Northern Frights anthologies–a sequence of books that have won international recognition and acclaim for Canadian dark fantasy and its practitioners. It was a series described in Rue Morgue magazine as “…a national treasure…”, and in Locus as “…one of the most distinguished original anthologies around.” Don is widely acknowledged as a leading authority on the history of the pulp fiction era and has published over one hundred newspaper and magazine articles and five books on the subject, including his Aurora Award, Arthur Ellis Award, and Bram Stoker Award-nominated THE GREAT PULP HEROES. He has been a Bram Stoker Award and International Horror Guild Award finalist, has been nominated three times for the World Fantasy Award, and is twice winner of Canada’s Aurora Award. In 1990, he received The Lamont Award “for outstanding effort in keeping alive the memory and spirit of the pulp magazine era.” He has served as a judge for The Sunburst Award, The World Fantasy Award, and The Crime Writers of Canada’s Arthur Ellis Award. A retired professional filmmaker, Don lives in his native Toronto with his wife, Jean.
