Get your ebooks here—with coupons!
This is a holiday week in the USA and we are celebrating by releasing some coupons into the aether. And why would you bother shopping here? Diversity, baby!
Cheryl Morgan pointed me toward the second episode of Live and Sassy, where Jonathan Strahan and Alisa Krasnostein talk with Alan Beatts of the excellent Borderlands Books in San Francisco and Cheryl goes on to say:
“Assuming that bricks and mortar books stores do vanish, where will we buy books in future. Amazon obviously. ABE books for second hand? Oh, they are owned by Amazon. The Book Depository? Oh, they are owned by Amazon. See where I’m going with this?”
Which is where someone like Wizard’s Tower or us come along! We’re in it to keep the world a more interesting place: we want to make sure that indie books don’t get delisted, recategorized, or made unavailable by one huge retailer.
Besides: we have some excellent coupons for the holidays—these are good through 11:59 p.m. EST on November 30. (Will we have a post-Xmas sale? I don’t know . . . tell me if you’re interested!)
Engines = 50% off Livia Llewellyn’s Engines of Desire: Tales of Love & Other Horrors
Small = 50% off all Small Beer Press and Big Mouth House titles!
WELCOME = 25% off ANYTHING!
Enter the coupon exactly as above once you’ve filled your cart and you will receive your lovely discount.
Cheers!

Hmmmm. Have tried the “Small” coupon (same capitalization and everything) with books solely from the Small Beer/Big Mouth category and I keep getting a “Cart does not meet the minimum requirement for this coupon!” Or have I jumped the gun on the coupon and it’s not up and running yet?
Greg, Sorry to be slow with this. Michael has fixed it and now it should be just hunky dory all round!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I just tried the Small coupon and am still getting the “Cart does not meet the minimum requirement…” message.
Hi Kristin, can you try it again now?
Cheers,
Gavin
Sadly, I’m still getting the error. Put two Small Beer Press titles in my cart and tried to add the code.
Ack, sorry! It is working for other reader. If you do want to go ahead and pick up any of the books we will refund the amount of the coupon.
Are subscriptions included in “ANYTHING”? My Clarkesworld subscription is good only for 3 more months and I was thinking of renewing…
Absolutely! Everything is on sale until 11:59 PM on Nov. 30th!
Thanks Gavin, I’ve ordered
GREAT! Here I go, then
I tried the ‘Small’ code with A few books including Chiang’s ‘Stories of your life’ and the discount applied to everything but Chiang’s book (though that appears to be a small beer press book)
Hi Kim, we’re refunding the discount to you now—sorry about that! The website had a bug with a couple of the books which is now fixed. (And, yes, I am proud to say Ted’s book is a Small Beer book!)
Cheers,
Gavin
What happens if I renew my subscription before I have 0 issues left? (I am down to one issue left for my Lightspeed subscription so I should renew for January 2012). If I renew now, will I get sent the current issue again and the new subscription starts right now instead of in January? Okay, this might be a dumb question, but I thought I’d rather ask.
Monika,
You’ll get the current issue again in the order confirmation email, but your new subscription won’t count that repeat issue–your next 12 issues will start with the next issue in January as they should.
Lisa, thanks for this note—looks like there was yet another bug in the system. But it should be fixed now (Greg, this should apply to you, too) and all the Small Beer titles should now be 50% off—at last!
Cheers,
Gavin
Yes, everything is fine now, and I’ve placed my order.
For anybody still having trouble with coupons, here’s how to do it: first add whatever books you want to your cart, then enter the coupon code in the field below where it says Enter Coupon Code:, then click Apply, then click Check Out with PayPal.
Meet Me in the Moon Room by Ray Vukcevich is only available as a PDF – is it supposed to be this way or is it an oversight? B/c I was thinking of using the small coupon to buy it, but I would vastly prefer mobi format – pdfs don’t work well on Kindle and sometimes there are wonky formatting errors with Calibre conversion.
Laurie,
Unfortunately we only have Meet Me in the Moon Room in PDF form right now–probably because it’s one of Small Beer’s oldest titles and hasn’t been converted yet. But I sent them your request, and we’ll definitely let you know when other formats become available. If you want to buy the book now at the sale price, when we do get the other formats they’ll appear on your Library page and you can download them for free.
I’m using Safari as a web browser na Mac, I can’t “see” any coupon codes?
Mornpen,
I can see the coupon codes in Safari just fine, so I’m not sure what to tell you. The codes are in plain text, included in the post above. Here’s a screenshot: http://weightlessbooks.com/images/couponcodes.jpg
Thanks, Michael. I have successfully renewed my Lightspeed subscription and ordered a few other books while I was at it.
[...] Stories by Georges-Olivier Châteaureynaud (translated by Edward Gauvin). Gavin Grant explains all here. If you don’t buy anything else, get Redemption in Indigo by Karen Lord, because it is an [...]
Thanks Michael. I’ve seen the light… ; )
