Since 1998, Mythic Delirium has served as a showcase for eclectic, whimsical, moving, challenging poetry with speculative themes. We feature poems, both rhymed and free verse, that turn genre tropes inside out, that introduce readers to the legends of other cultures, that re-evaluate the myths of old from a modern perspective, that twists reality in unexpected ways.
Mythic Delirium is published twice annually by Mythic Delirium Books. Authors whose verse have appeared in our pages include Neil Gaiman, Ursula K. Le Guin, Joe Haldeman, Catherynne M. Valente, Jane Yolen, Theodora Goss, Jeannine Hall Gailey, Sonya Taaffe, Amal El-Mohtar, Ian Watson, Kendall Evans and more.
Four poems from our pages have won the Rhysling Award for best speculative poem of the year, and many more have been runner-ups.We encourage experimentation, both in the writing we choose and in the use of art and illustration. We are old-fashioned in one way: Mythic Delirium is a DIY zine, hand-assembled, which we view as giving each issue the feel of a craft project. Yet we acknowledge the future is here, and we’re delighted to be offering our wares in PDF format through Weightless Books.
